I have been a consumer of Knudsen Cottage Cheese for more than 40 years. Over the past year or more, I have found that no matter which market I purchase Knudsen Low Fat cottage cheese, it is never firm enough to mold into any shape for a nice salad presentation, and within a couple of days,( note the date code on the bottom of the container) it is so runny, you can drink it.

I have no choice than to throw it away. At $4.99-$6.99 a pop, once a week, that is a lot of wasted money.

Additionally, the flavor has changed, it is very bland and the overall texture, barely palateable.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Kraft Foods Cons: Knudsen watery low fat cottage cheese.

Break stone cottage cheese is disgusting! Itโ€™s the consistency of curdled milk! Itโ€™s so disappointing!

Guest

It is not just Knudsen. Breakstone is the same way. Boycotting until they figure it out.

I canโ€™t find a good brand of cottage cheese. My favorite brand is so watery now that I have quit buying it.

Guest

I totally agree!!!! There is no decent cottage cheese on the market today!

They are all soupy and either have no taste or a sour/bitter taste.

What happened to the good old small curd, fluffy cottage cheese of old? I rarely eat it any more.

Guest

I thought it was just the batch I bought (Breakstone Fat Free). At first I thought it was the fat free content.

Then I tried stirring it to make it more thick. Still, it has no flavor and it's so runny, like it's soaking in milk or something

Guest

Yes, so has Breakstone in the East, the same maker of Knudsen in the West for cottage cheese. It is gross, runny and the flavor is totally different.

I have bought both over 40 years, it is now disgusting. I have called the company and reported that it was a bad batch, all they did was send a coupon.

I threw my other large 2% containers away. FIX IT!

Same here in Midwest. So pissed. It is one of my staples and now it's inedible.

I agree....I have been buying this product for a million years and have never experienced it being so soupy. This has been going on for a little while now - say 6-9 months.

I have also tired other brands and it is the same thing. Not sure what is going on in the cottage cheese world...

Guest

Same with Breakstones 4% milkfat 4-packs. Goop.

Guest

I have tried many different brands and they are all the same now!!!!! Iโ€™m wondering if they had to remove some kind of additive that made it it much more โ€œcurdyโ€.

Guest

I so agree. This is not the same recipe that has kept me buying Knudsen cottage cheese for years.

Iโ€™m giving up on them.

Not buying cottage cheese anymore. Sad days!!

Guest

I have experienced the same thing. Also Trader Joe`s has changed their recipe so now it is soupy and bland.

Some people want TJs to be a health food store because they got rid of the gums ingredients that makes more solid and gives some people digestion issues but not all people. Those sensitive people probably should not be eating dairy in the first place but now everybody now has to eat cottage cheese soup.

Guest

Knudsen cottage cheese is disgusting. In fact all other brands I have tried are also soupy and disgusting.

I stopped buying it.

Every year or so I buy a container to give it another try - still watery and gross and goes in the trash. So disappointed!

Guest

Their pineapple cottage cheese has high fructose corn syrup ....yikes..horrible and watery. Tom and Carl Knudsen would be ashamed of Kraft people for ruining it ..!!!!

Guest

Yes, the cottage cheese is terrible! What changed?

And why?

I will stop buying it if this consistency problem continues. WTH?

Guest

Same issue. I buy meadow gold and I have a 50% chance it ends up in the trash.

When itโ€™s creamy itโ€™s perfect and I love it.

When itโ€™s watery itโ€™s horrible. Why canโ€™t they be consistent.

Guest

I agree! it's so disappointing.

Guest

I totally agree!! What a waste of money.

Let me know if you find a brand worth buying.

As the saying goes, "not much is like it used to be". Damn!!

Guest

I stopped eating cottage cheese years ago because it was so soupy and gross. I have no idea when it changed but it definitely did.

Every once in a while I might see a brand I wasn't familiar with so I would buy it but they would always go right into the trash can when I got home. That is until last year when I found a brand I'd never seen before called GOOD CULTURE. I bought one container, brought it home, opened it up and I couldn't believe my eyes! It was beautiful!

Tiny little curds like little pearls, DRY - not swimming in liquid - but creamy and it had the most wonderful flavor! This stuff is the best and only (that I know of), CC that tastes like the stuff we remember. It is AMAZING! Comes in plain, pineapple, strawberry, blueberry - I usually get the plain and pineapple.

Not every store sells it but I know Target and Walmart do. If you go to the Good Culture website it tells you where it's sold plus a lot of other good info and you can even print a coupon. All hope is not lost people!

(You're welcome! ;-)

I just had one from Good Culture and it was so much better than any I've ever had before.
