Premium Saltines; No Longer Premium

Premium Saltines have so much breakage now, poor flavor, that like New Coke, this Nabisco/Kraft icon is going away if not corrected. I have tried Saltines too many times to keep finding awful crackers. I now realize this is the new cracker, despite the original looking box and my memories of childhood eating soup with my family. The brand image makes people buy with their memories. But that wears off. I now buy Kroger (their much better than the current saltines-and less $$ too).Kroger brand which ironically used to look like the Saltines are so much better. Only because Saltines have become so bad. every cracker in a sleeve breaks.Multiple lots/multiple codes. Kraft/Kroger have crossed qulaity paths. The store brand is actually better ! Saltinbes quality gone (more than down), Kroger to the bank improving. Nothing like a recession for customers to try something else. The store brand (well Kroger is so huge with their own manugfacturing( they are "a Brand"). Why would Nabisco/Kraft do this to themselves. Sales numbers have to be down. Complaints up. And the risk of not getting customers ever to return. No wondere Private label is winning. Why would Nabisco hurt the beautiful blue box image.

I have been buying "Whole grain topped with sea salt" Premium crackers for several years. Now it appears that they are no longer made.

The store where I shopped could not keep them in stock. Why would Nabisco discontinue producing them?

#517118

I noticed that the breakage was a major issue. I figured we'd try our store brand and they are much more like the Premium used to be.

I know salt is an issue, hence the sea salt thing, but come on. When you buy saltines you know what you're getting....it's an annoyance.

I'm glad to switch to our better tasting and cheaper store brand crackers. :)

#517109

For almost a year now, I have had trouble when I buy saltines, that no matter what brand I buy, whenever I take one of the rectangle shaped pkgs. out of the box at least half of each rectangle is broken and the rest as soon as you take a *** out them they crumble.

I don't have enough use for cracker crumbs, that I end up throwing the broken ones away.

You can't tell me that all these boxes of saltines get dropped or what ever to be causing this problem. I'm not the only person that has this problem either.

Velveets slices

What is up with the Velveeta slices? You can not unwrap the cheese without tearing it up into several pieces. It sticks to the plastic paper. And there is always four or five slices that are all wrinkly and even harder to unwrap. We have used Velveeta slices for over thirty years and it has been in the last year that we have had these problems. Please fix this problem and go back to the old way. We really like the veveeta slice and we hate waisting cheese that we can not remove from the wrapper. We are thinking we should change brand. We don't want to do this.

What are you six? I have never had a problem with their cheese wrappers and even if I did you don't have to waste the slices unstick them from the plastic paper.

I am a long time fan of Kool Whip. I like the new packaging, but the product has also changed.

It is soft and watery.

I can't use it with the standard receipts.

Nabisco Saltine Crackers have a quality issue

This may be trivial to some but I am disappointed in the recent quality of Nabisco Saltine Crackers (Kraft Foods). Every box I've bought in the last few weeks is terrible. You cannot even pick a cracker up without it crumbling, much less try to put butter or another type of spread on it. I took a picture of the latest pack we tried to use. About 80% of the crackers crumbled as we picked them up. I've used this product for over 40 years without complaint. Now I think Kraft has altered the recipe to either save money or to make additional money and quite frankly the product is no longer usable. I did send a complaint to Kraft and to Consumer Reports.

Just open a pack of saltine crackers and nearly threw-up from the taste and smell. It appears to be a very strong toxic smell and taste.

Open anther sealed package from the same box, no obvious smell noticed.

#440** ***** * expires December 2015.

I see that over 540 complaints have been mentioned in various sites. Will call Nabisco (M-F)1-80*-***-**** Strongly suggest no one eat the crackers and complain - nicely!

#976684

I've been a Nabisco cracker user for years. I have also noticed the crumbling issue with the crackers too.l More are crumbled than whole.

This has been going on for months and months.

. I'm switching to Krispy next time I buy crackers.

#836262

I agree. They are no longer the same cracker.

Did some ignorant board member think that people wouldn't notice?

I don't buy them anymore.

Jim

#817715

The taste is different also. I think the crackers have been re-invented.

#568336

I just opened a newly purchased box of the "new saltines" and I too am extremely disappointed. I don't like the packaging with all the crackers in one bag.

Once you open the bag you are left with an entire opened bag unlike the old where you had four smaller wrapped packages.

A large amount of the crackers were broken into small pieces and the taste just is not the same as the "original saltine cracker". Will not be buying again.

#528948

:( I'll be (61) years young this coming October. Been eating Nabisco Premium Crackers a long time.

But not any more! You can not even dip potted meat out of the can with out then falling apart. I live in Houston Texas - I changed to (Parade - Saltines). They do not fall apart!

Nabisco really does not care about it's customer - the world is so populated now that if you stop buying it (3) other people will try it? It goes with out saying - the good old days are gone, where a business cared about you & me!

We the people have a lot of power, but you can't get every one to stand up an get thing changed! Sad - VERY - Sad

#416081

i have bought three boxes of the seasalt saltine crackers at different stores and they were allm staled.maybe i should try a another company. i hope this can be corrected

#368723

I too am very disappointed in the new crackers. Why would you change something that has worked forever. We have quit buying them.

#366410

forty years I have eaten and loved original saltines. The new ones with sea salt are terrible--They should not call them original, maybe the decision makers are not old enough to know what the original ones tasted like.

Guess I will have to shift back to other producers of saltines to try and find the original taste. This is a case where they flat ruined the taste of a cracker I so dearly loved.

#301189

I too have a problem with the taste and quality of Nabisco Saltines. They taste horrible and are hard to swallow.

Threw several boxes away, thinking I had a bad batch. They have lost me as a customer!

No Fat, severely degraded Kraft Cheese Products...

Kraft cheese products have always been the mainstay of our families/friends' choice of cheese...the products have severely degraded since 2 percent, no fat evolved, in the countries grocery chain stores... Where can I find the original Kraft cheese products without filtering, deleting or changing quality taste...I'm very disappointed with your products now and continue to look for another cheese product with such good quality that your products don't have anymore...it's like anything else, I buy quality food because of taste...until your product changes back you've lost a 40 year loyal customer.

Kraft Maid Bathroom Vanity-shoddy workmanship, indifferent customer service

Special ordered bathroom vanity cabinet from Lowes in early August 2009. Took 5 1/2 weeks to get it, was supposed to be delivered to store within 4 weeks. I had a contract with a bathroom renovator who was to start October 15, who stipulated that the vanity had to be ready to install when he started the project, and he would not remedy any problems with the vanity. He required a sizeable deposit, so cancellation was a problem. When brought home and opened up in mid-September, the single central door was out of alignment vertically by 1/4 inch, the sets of three doors on either side were also out of alignment vertically by 1/4 inch, the rail along the upper back was bowed outwards by 3/8 of an inch, the left-hand side panel was bowed inwards by 1/4 inch, the left-hand upper cabinet was not fastened to the back rail, the only wood screws supplied were 10-2 1/2 inches long(required only 2 screws 3/4 inch!). None of the cabinet hardware could be installed as all of the screws supplied were either too long or too short. Lowes was prepared to take it back and re-order, but as I explained I had only about 3 weeks to have the vanity repaired or replaced. The said it could not be replaced in time, as did Kraft Maid's so-called "customer service". They generously offered to send the correct screws, when received only 2 were usable. No offer to correct the other deficiencies! Lowes, some days later sent a staff member to my home, and with my assistance and personal collection of assorted hardware, he did some "fixes". I am not at all pleased, especially with Kraft Maid's so-called "customer service". The just could not give a ***! Last time I will buy a Kraft Maid product! K. Ogle

Have you ever heard of "Weights & Measures"? Don't have a heart attack just call them if you are so upset.

By the way what type of calibrated scale are you using?

When was the last time it was calibrated and by whom? Did they use a certified weight when it was calibrated?

KRAFT CHEESE IS A FRAUD

I was at my local grocery store (Luckys) And asked the gentleman if I could purchase just 8 slices of Kraft Cheese instead of the whole thing. He treated me like I was *** and started laughing at me. When I insisted that I was serious he told me Kraft does not allow the store to break up the pre-packaged products. That is why KRAFT is a FRAUD I will never by cheese from them again, in fact I will now buy SOY CHEESE! Take that KRAFT! ALL MY LIFE I HAVE EATEN YOUR CHEESE NOW I AM SWITCHING!!!

Fig Newtons

We have been trying to figure out why Fig Newtons have gotten so sorry. They are now made in Mexico. They are smaller, advertising of twice the fruit is false (small print when compared to a Kelloggs strawberry nutra bar ... duhhhh), cookie falls apart, has hard objects that will break your jaw, scorched almost black and tastes like ***. I guess Kraft thinks sloppy preparation and quality control is worth the profit or lack of since we are not buying anymore. I hope the bonuses received by the upper echelon of Kraft is worth screwing up what was once a good American company

The can sent me was 21 OZ. Can't imagine Kraft unable to help me obtain product. I have asked, called and searched 25 mi. area for 38967. No help. I have searched the internet. Kraft customer service admits they do have this product but can not send it to me direct? Is there anything can do to get this product sent to me.
